There are a lot of individuals, particularly kids, who question why they should maintain good oral hygiene. Each month of April, some 3rd world countries celebrate the National Oral Health Month. The said month, lots of dentists promote a dental mission which is made up of a free dental check-up or consultation, dental extraction, and any other dental procedures that need be done. There are a lot of dental treatments that are covered during the said oral health month.
During one dental mission, there was a teenage girl who came in griping that she’s being consistently teased for having a gummy smile. What she means to point out is that, each time she talks or grins, almost every part of her gums become visible and lots of folks are making fun of her. After verbalizing her thoughts and feelings towards her current dental problem, she then asks the dentist what certain type of dental treatment is the most suitable and effective in doing away with gummy smiles.
The dental procedure that is good enough to correct gummy grins is called gum re-shaping. In gum re-shaping, AKA gum contouring, a scalpel is employed on the gums so as to trim down the excessive gums that are present.
However, with the fast progression of the world today, just a couple of dentists use the scalpel in this type of dental procedure. As an alternative they now use laser therapy gum contouring. Laser therapy is now widely used by most dentists since it reduces the risk of gum bleeding because of its coagulation effect on the gums.
Furthermore, during this sort of dental procedure, a local pain-killer is sometimes utilized on the operation site.Due to this pain-killer, this procedure is mostly not unpleasant and it very safe and quite effective. If you are humiliated by your gummy smile, speak to your Surrey dentist about laser therapy gum contouring.
