Doctors Prefer To Remove Warts Using Medications

Doctors who are dealing with patients whose chief complaint happens to be that of skin warts have two options, in terms of how they can treat such patients. They can, in the first instance, decide to remove warts through ‘procedures’ like cryosurgery, laser treatment, electrodessication and so on. Or they could simply prescribe their patients some medications that, when taken regularly, will eventually make the skin warts go away. If you compare the doctor’s preferences between these two, you will find favor veering toward medications. In fact, the doctors view the procedures only as a last resort and would hesitate to actually recommend them immediately to their patients. The patients will be recommended to undergo the medical procedures only when it is clear that the medications they have prescribed are not working at all. Now we are interested in understanding the reasons as to why many doctors prefer to use the medications, as opposed to the procedures, when dealing with skin warts.

The first reason why most doctors choose medications for skin wart removal is the fact that using them is less time consuming. It would take a lot of time to plan and organize the medical procedures such as laser treatment, electrodessication, and cryosurgery. It would be more preferable to use medications. After all, they don’t take a long time to apply, and they are even more effective than the procedures.

Medications also involve less mess once they are used or administered to take care of skin wart problems. There are oral medications (which are supposed to be ingested or drank) and there are also the topical medications (which are meant to be rubbed and applied on the areas affected. Unlike medical procedures, the person who has the skin warts to be removed does not have to be poked, prodded and exposed to the risks usually involved in procedures of this kind. If possible, these doctors would choose the noninvasive methods. There is a risk that they will be sued if something goes wrong during an invasive procedure or surgery.

Of course doctors would also prefer to use medications for wart removal because it just so happens that these medications yield more positive results than the procedures being performed. It has, for instance, been documented in formal medical studies that the use of medications like salicylic acid leads to better outcomes than the use of cryosurgery. It is a given that doctors would want their patient’s best interests at heart. If they know that their patients will have better results if they use medications, then they would naturally suggest the treatment to their patients. The medications remove the warts by going for the causative agent of the warts itself, the HP virus. Physically visible warts are the only ones that are addressed and dealt with by the medical procedures. The HP virus is largely ignored and left to thrive and cause other warts. Although you have managed to eliminate the visible warts, they could still come back in the future.
