Effective Gingivitis Cure

01.08.2011

If you have instances wherein your gums instantly bleed even on the slightest pressure applied or if they have a swollen appearance and a reddish color, then that could be a possible case of gingivitis.  By definition, gingivitis refers to the condition wherein the gums are infected by bad bacteria.  Although this condition is generally mild, leaving this untreated may lead to more adverse effects which include tooth loss, periodontal disease and ulcerative gingivitis.

Gingivitis, as mentioned earlier, is a mild condition by nature.  This means that you won’t be able to figure out that you already have the condition unless the signs obviously come out.  That is why most dentists treat the condition when they are already slightly severe because that is the only time that the condition becomes noticeable.  In this case, it would be very substantial to track down how this particular condition starts and the things that you can do to prevent it or cure it as soon as possible.

How does gingivitis start, you ask?  As mentioned earlier, when there is a high level f bacteria accumulation within the oral cavity that is when the disease comes to life.  How do these bacteria infiltrate our oral cavity?  This is through the food that we eat.  When we forget to clean our teeth after eating, there will be food particles that will be left out inside our cavity.  Once these are left out for a long period of time, they develop into bacteria and populate inside our mouth.  The first victim of the bacteria attacks would be our gums, so it is most likely that gingivitis would be the first effect of this bacterial infestation.  After the bacteria build-up, that is when some signs of a possible gingivitis issue would come up.  People with gingivitis are most likely to encounter gum discoloration and halitosis.  By nature, our healthy gums have a pale pink color.  Once these turn into red or grayish, this could either mean that our gums are swollen or that they have decayed respectively.  An evident foul odor in our breath would also indicate that there is something wrong with the gums.

In this case, our dilemma would revolve around how to treat gingivitis.  However, a better alternative to that would be how to prevent gingivitis from attacking us.  We all know that preventive measures are more effective than curative procedures.  In the case of gingivitis, the only way to prevent this disease is to stop the bad bacteria from infesting our gums.  And that can be only achieved with good oral hygiene.  This could probably be the best gingivitis cure that we could have.  By doing simple things to keep our mouth clean such as brushing our teeth, using dental floss and healthy dental products as well as keeping our dentist consultations at a regular, we can make sure that gingivitis will not be able to wreak havoc inside our oral cavity.

Other gingivitis treatment procedures would involve the use of organic substances.  There are a lot of herbal stuffs that contain antibacterial and antiseptic properties which could help us in battling gingivitis.  You can use products which contain sage, peppermint, grapefruit seed extracts, or tea tree oil.  Products which contain any of those mentioned can be very helpful in easing the pain and increasing the protection against bad bacteria.
