Cosmetic Dentistry Implants – Ditch Your Dentures Forever

28.03.2012

Cosmetic dentistry implants may refer to a number of practices for replacing missing teeth in ways that both look natural, in contrast to partial dentures. Missing teeth have an extreme result on both the way someone looks and the way they feel. While partial dentures have been the conventional solution, these always run the risk of falling out, and additionally, they limit food one can eat. Cosmetic implants function in exactly the same way as natural teeth, giving you a second chance with a new set of perfect teeth that, when properly cared for, can last you for over 40 years!

What is a dental implant? There are 3 main options of cosmetic dental implant which your dentist may offer to you, all of which necessitate titanium fixtures implanted into the jaw, to which the new teeth are attached. The most standard form is commonly known as the root form implant. This is a screw which is sunk into the jawbone and becomes the new root. The tooth is then attached to this artificial root. Before the tooth can be attached, the implant must heal for a period of 3-6 months.

If the jaw is too narrow or has excessive bone loss for a root type implant, your dentist may counsel a plate type implant instead. As the name suggests, the plate form is a flat, thin implant more suitable to a thin jawbone. The healing time for a plate form implant is, like the root version, sometimes 3 months to six months or more but some plate form implants are prepared right away without needing to wait through the healing process (completed in 1 step instead of two).

If neither a root form nor a plate form implant is appropriate, you may receive a subperiosteal implant. This implant is meant to rest between the jawbone and gum, and will comprise 2 procedures to place. In the 1st, your cosmetic dental surgeon will take an impression of your jawbone, and in the second, your specially made implant, made from the impression, will be fitted.

For three to 5 days after the implants are set, you will be limited to a liquid diet. You may have protein drinks in order to maintain valuable nutrients, thus the bulk of people do shed weight. If you’re diabetic or have other nutritional concerns you must discuss the procedure with your doctor first to ensure that you keep your insulin levels up and do not endanger your well-being. Once the implants are in place, you may feel like you have your natural teeth back again. Consequently, if you have missing teeth, cosmetic dentistry implants are the most natural, comfortable and permanent solution.
