Dentists nowadays charge an arm and a leg. I was just on a trip for a routine appointment and I am taking great care in cleaning my teeth. So I didn't need no elaborate work or fillings. So the dentist engineer just cleaned and polished my teeth. 5 mins later I was out and paying $75. I was like $75 flipping quid for that.
There were 3 dentists in the practice. If all they were doing was polishing teeth they would be making approximately $750 quid an hour per dentist. That's $2250 per hour this practice was lifting.
Little wonder I see their seo adverts and selling banners everywhere. At those prices I'm surprised if each practice member does not own his personal ship. Now if that's only for a polish how much does a filling cost? I hope I never need to know.
So this got me thinking how did dentistry prices rise so high matched against all of the occupations? I mean for sure no one wants to have a severe toothache and would appreciate their dentist rescuing them from tooth decay, but are the prices still not over inflated?
If I had to do it all again I just might go back and train as a dentist. I could undercut all the other dentists in my area and still be a millionaire in 5 years. Nice work if you can get it. Perhaps it’s just the envy gene in me flaring up but I keep thinking we are paying too much for this service and not only that each time I'm going back the price has went up.
